Monday Morning Coffee: It’s Basically Summer, Right?

The calendar may not officially say summer yet—summer begins on June 20. But once school lets out and the sun stays up until 8 p.m., it’s practically summer. You can feel it in the air—the kids playing outside, flip-flops kicked loose in your closet, and lemonade tasting just a little sweeter. It’s that time of year, and we’re ready to dive in. Summer is approaching and the possibilities for relaxation, adventure and new memories are endless.

Summer isn’t just a season; it’s a mindset. It’s the energy of long days, spontaneous plans and that unmistakable scent of sunscreen and backyard grills. Outdoor pools open, ice cream trucks begin their rounds and everything seems to slow down just a little. We embrace that carefree, laid-back vibe, where everything feels more relaxed. Our biggest worry? The sunburn on our shoulders and whether the fun was worth it (spoiler: it always is). It’s those small, unforgettable moments that make summer feel so alive.

With Saint Joseph schools officially out tomorrow, the town will shift into “summer mode” for the next three months. The daily rhythm will slow down just a bit, as families trade packed schedules and homework for evenings filled with the sound of crickets and kids playing outside. Summer brings a kind of energy that makes everything feel a little freer—like anything is possible. It’s the perfect time to make lasting memories with the people who matter most.

As you sip your Monday morning coffee, take a moment to think about what you want to make of this summer. Where will you go? Who will you meet? Whether it’s spontaneous road trips, relaxing afternoons by the pool, or reuniting with friends, the summer is yours to shape. But remember, summer isn’t just about what you do—it’s about how you feel. Soak up the simple joys, enjoy the moments of freedom and make this summer one to remember. Here’s to making the most of it. Enjoy your summer!
